Evanescence announce new album ‘Synthesis’

Evanescence has a number of classic songs in their discography that we could listen to over and over again, but their new album Synthesis will allow us to listen to these classic songs in a whole new way—with full orchestration.

Evanescence frontwoman Amy Lee revealed the news of this new album through a video posted on Facebook, along with explaining how there will also be two new songs on this album.

“This album is about orchestra and electronica. We’re taking our music, stripping out the big distorted guitars, stripping out the rock drums and replacing it with full orchestration and a completely synthetic world of beats and sounds,” explains Lee.

While this album will feature songs from Evanescence’s previous albums, Lee explains that these won’t be remixes meaning that we’ll get to hear our favorite songs in an entirely new way. She also explains why they titled the album, Synthesis.

“It is the synthesis, the combination, the contrast, the synergy between the organic and the synthetic, also the past and present.”

As if we couldn’t get any more excited, Lee also revealed the news that Evanescence will be touring with a complete orchestra coming this fall to support the release of the album. [Source]

Amy Promises You’ll Like The New And Very Different Evanescence Album

Amy Lee has lent her powerhouse vocals to quite a few projects over the past year or so. She released a family album, put out some solo music and recently recorded “Speak to Me” for the new movie “Voice From the Stone,” starring “Game of Thrones” actress Emilia Clarke.

You can now add a new Evanescence project to that growing list. According to the frontwoman, it’s going to sound like nothing you’ve heard before. Expected out later this year, the album will be the group’s first since 2011’s self-titled studio effort.

“It’s not just a straightforward next Evanescence album, but it’s something else. So manage and prepare yourself for what you’re waiting for to be something different,” the songstress told The Huffington Post during Build Series.

Lee says she always wants her sound to evolve. This new album will represent forward momentum for the band, which formed in 1995 and has gone through several iterations, with Lee remaining the steady force on piano and vocals.

“I had this crazy harebrained idea, like, two years ago and finally I have all the people around me that are like, ‘Let’s make that happen,’” she said.

Lee has been on the road with the band over the past few months and in their down time, they’ve carved out time to write and record new music. When pressed about what to expect, Lee remained tight-lipped, only saying, “It’s not quite the right time to tell you exactly what it is.”

Inspiration for new songs can come at any time for Lee, who says she uses the voice note function on her phone to record melodies and lyrics.

Evanescence’s Amy Lee has unveiled her new song “Speak to Me,” the end credits theme from the upcoming thriller Voice From the Stone.

“There are many reasons why I felt inspired to work on this project,” Lee said in a statement. “Voice From the Stone tells the haunting story of Verena, a nurse who is asked to aid a young boy who has fallen silent after the sudden passing of his mother; Verena is brought in to help him speak again. As a new mother myself, the film resonated very deeply with me. ”

The film stars Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke in the role of Verena, with Lee’s ghostly ballad capturing the tone of the supernatural saga.

“I had the opportunity to work closely with Eric Howell, who directed the film, and Michael Wandmacher, who composed the score,” Lee continued. “I was very moved by the movie, and after having my first conversation with Eric and Michael, I felt a surge of inspiration and immediately began writing. It is a rare phenomenon to really share a creative vision so completely, and that made for a very powerful experience, and an end result that I am very proud of.”

Howell also directed the “Speak to Me” music video, which will arrive next week. “We conceived the video as a parallel and backstory to the film, which explores the strong bond of love between Malvina and her son, and the belief that love is stronger than death,” Lee said of the Sicily-shot video. In April 2016, Lee shared behind-the-scenes footage of the “Speak to Me” recording session.

In addition to “Speak to Me” and her recent solo work, Lee is back in the studio with Evanescence working on the band’s new LP, due out this fall. [Source]

‘Shooting Stars’ Meme May Have Peaked w/ Bag Raiders Vs Evanescence

Last month MusicFeeds reported on the rise of a meme involving Bag Raiders seminal 2009 single ‘Shooting Stars’, and while it’s hard to tell when musically-driven memes have peaked, it’s usually around the time that Smash Mouth and Evanescence start getting involved.

ICYMI: Towards the back end of 2016 video makers began including ‘Shooting Stars’ to accompany hilarious videos of people falling, being pushed, and diving off things.

Now video meme master Grandayy, who has made some of the best ‘Shooting Stars’ clips to date, has mashed the track up with Evanescence cult classic ‘Bring Me To Life’.

While some creators have made crude and out-of-tune mashups involving the Bag Raiders track, Grandayy is a master of repatching two songs to melt together perfectly.

Future of Evanescence

It has officially been six years since Evanescence has last released a new album, leaving fans restless in anticipation for new music. This does not mean, however, that front-woman Amy Lee has been doing nothing during this hiatus. She has released several covers of songs and a children’s album Dream Too Much to keep fans satiated as she explores her artistic abilities. Now she’s back with another solo single entitled “Love Exists.”

The song perfectly encompasses the nature of love with a warm and delicate introduction and a powerful chorus. For the most part, the song is more on the soothing side in comparison to Lee’s works within Evanescence. The song includes elements like piano and strings to accompany Lee’s voice.

The purpose of the song is clear through the lyrics: love is complex. It can be found everywhere and in countless forms, and it isn’t always soft and easy. The chorus states that “love makes no sense” and captures that it’s an experience that we are constantly trying to understand.

Lee has hinted that there is more Evanescence content in the future but has kept the details ambiguous so as to allow herself the ability to take things step by step in this complicated stage of her career. [Source]

EVANESCENCE Working On New Music

According to Amy Lee‘s publicists at Mercenary Publicity, the EVANESCENCE singer and her bandmates are currently in the studio working on new music, expected later this year.

Lee hinted in an interview with AOL last fall that the band was gearing up to make new music, but that it might not take the form of a traditional album release. Lee explained: “We have some new little plan in store, but I don’t wanna give it away yet. But there is some new EVANESCENCE stuff that we’re starting at, but it’s not exactly the most traditional thing. It’s not just, ‘Okay, we’re gonna make a new album right now.’ Not that that’s not coming, but first there’s something else that’s a little bit special and different and [that is] gonna take you down a different path that we wanna try.”

Lee said a while back that she doesn’t use record sales as a gauge for success these days. “Well, you just can’t judge it the same way you used to and by the same model,” she explained. “Having people hear and connect to your song isn’t directly linked to record sales, that’s for sure. I think it may be more accurate to look at how many views on YouTube or something. I’m cool about it. We’ve had a lot of success in the past and that’s awesome. I don’t look at it like this daunting thing that we have to live up to, I look at it like this really positive, awesome thing that wouldn’t have been able to happen if we’d come out for the first time this year.”

Lee also told AOL that EVANESCENCE is “really having a good time as a band right now. Everybody’s just gelling really well together and playing really well together.”

Jen Majura Is Thankful

In a brand new interview with Greece’s Rock Overdose, EVANESCENCE guitarist Jen Majura was asked if there are plans for the band to record a new album as a follow-up to 2011’s self-titled effort. She responded: “Well, you know, I am the European part of EVANESCENCE. Amy [Lee, EVANESCENCE singer] and the [other] guys are overseas, and… To be honest, from what I can tell, we mainly focus on the touring for this year, which is, first of all South America in spring and Europe in summer… and something else. [Laughs] But I guess… I think Amy said in one of her interviews that she’s already working on new music. You never really stop working on music, because you get inspiration from every moment in your life. So it could be, like, you’re travelling in your car and then you get a great inspiration or idea, and maybe you just pick that up later — like months later or years later — or you find cool stuff on your computer which you recorded, like, gazillions of ages ago, and that might be something… So you never really stop being creative. And, from what I can tell, I think she’s already collecting and working on music. So, we’ll see.”<

Jen also talked about what it has been like to join EVANESCENCE in August 2015 as the replacement for Terry Balsamo. She said: “[To be] honest, I’ve never been, like, one of those insane EVANESCENCE fans. Of course, I knew the music — everybody does — and I love the music, and I bought the CDs, and I listened to the songs, and I sang along… But being able, and thankful for being able, to be one part of this band is… It’s hard to describe it in words, because… I do not see it as a job. Of course it’s work, but, for me, mainly, after I got to know all the guys really [well], [it’s] mainly fun, because we really get along very good. Even if we’re not on the road touring, we keep texting each other and talk on Skype and stuff, and it’s really a very, very mature, friendly relationship that we have, with a lot of respect for each other. And playing those shows… One can never understand the feeling f how it is to stand on stage together with those guys, because they’re just so talented, creative, great musicians, and we’re just having so much fun on stage, andI think the people can see that. Evanescence have announced another show

Evanescence will play a second night at London’s Hammersmith Apollo this June.

They’ll now play the venue on both June 13 & 14. It’s the band’s first time in the UK in five years.

“Coming back to Europe has been a high priority for us and we are very excited for the shows this summer,” said vocalist Amy Lee.

“The band has a special new energy right now and we are pushing ourselves and more than ever onstage, and enjoying ourselves immensely. Can’t wait to share it with you!” [Source]

Evanescence announce first UK gig since 2012

Evanescence have announced their first UK gig in over four years.

The ‘My Immortal’ band will play London’s Eventim Apollo on June 14 – three days after Download Festival 2017 draws to a close. Tickets will go on sale this Friday (January 20) at 9am.

Evanescence last played live in the UK in 2012 when they embarked on a four-date arena tour. The year before, they had released their self-titled third album, which remains their most recent record.

Singer Amy Lee told NME back in 2012 that the band’s next batch of music could take them in a different direction.

“I love folk, that’s a big part of my background,” she said at the time. “I’ve written music that’s a lot simpler and more acoustic and I got into a moment where I’m obsessed with dance music, things like Massive Attack and Portishead. I’d like to do something that’s not driven by loud guitars, I love the aggression they bring, but I’d like to try something out.”

The band took a break following their 2012 tour before regrouping in 2015 for a series of live shows in the US. They also toured the US last year with a setlist that included signature hits ‘Bring Me To Life’, ‘My Immortal’ and ‘Going Under’. [Source]

Evanescence to Live Stream Final 2016 Performance

Evanescence are winding down their 2016 touring activity, but will make sure that fans everywhere will get a chance to see their final date. The band will be playing the Paramount in Huntington, N.Y. Wednesday night (Nov. 23) and they’ll be teaming up with Live Nation to stream the show online.

Fans will be able to catch the action from the Paramount beginning at 9PM ET via Live Nation TV on Facebook, Live Nation’s YouTube channel and at LiveNation.com.

The band has been touring in the lead up to the release of the band’s massive vinyl box set. The Ultimate Collection is due to arrive Dec. 9 via Concord / Bicycle. Included are six LPs that span their four studio albums (The Open Door requires two LPs) and a rarities set titled The Lost Whispers.

Evanescence’s sets have included a new song called “Take Cover.” Singer Amy Lee told us before the tour started that she was looking forward to the run, explaining, “I’m most looking forward to the things we haven’t done yet, so I’m not gonna tell you exactly what they are, but there’s a couple of songs that are almost just for me. One of them is ‘The Change.’ It’s not our most famous song by any means, it wasn’t even a single and it’s just one of my favorite songs we’ve done as a band and there’s just something about the way I can just release my mind singing it. There’s no lyrics in the bulk of the chorus, I love it; it just makes me feel so inside the music.”

As for Evanescence’s future, Lee has stated that there will eventually be new music, but that it will come in its own time.

Evanescence Bring New Song ‘Take Cover’ to the Stage

Though Amy Lee has a newly released children’s album and there has been no official word on a new Evanescence album as of yet, fans are getting a taste of new music at the band’s recent shows. They’ve got a song called “Take Cover” that they’ve added to the set list.

The song is a more electronic-based track, alternative between moments of rhythmic swaying verses and a more driving anthemic chorus. You can check out a fan-shot performance of the song from a recent show in Dallas in the player above.

Lee recently told Team Rock that the idea to add a new song to the set came as they began to explore the music for their upcoming vinyl box set, The Ultimate Collection, which is due on Dec. 9. She explains, “We are playing a new song live right now. We got together for rehearsals and we really focused this tour on the fans and the history of the band. Kind of in light of this whole box set theme, we wanted to do everything that the fans want and not just what we felt like doing. It has been so fulfilling and so fun.”

She adds, “When we got together the guys were really strongly supportive of it, we had a song in the bank. And we were like, ‘You know what the fans would really love is a new song. That’s all they ever ask for.’ So we knocked the dust off an old song called ‘Take Cover’ that we had in the bank for a while and we loved it. It’s one of our favorite moments every night on the tour. I think they like it a lot. I posted the lyrics on Facebook and now I get at least five people in the front row mouthing along, which is extra fun.”
